Woyzeck
In Woyzeck two guirky music theater companies compete with each other: the opera singers of Silbersee (ex-vocaallab) and the savage men of Project Wildeman. Civilization clashes with primal drive. Tight beats pound on cutting arias. Pulsating male bodies become entangled in lyrical melodies. A musical clash with fatal outcome.
Woyzeck, een waanopera is a sensuous and raw interpretation of the Woyzeck case, one of the most famous crimes passionels in history. In addition to Georg Büchners play, also historical documents about the illustrious case served as inspiration. The result is a physical music theater performance about a man who not only loses control over the heart of his lover, but also loses his grip on reality. Woyzeck, een waanopera takes the audience into a crazy whirlwind that unleashes itself in Woyzeck’s mind as soon as he discovers that his girlfriend Marie is under the spell of a strange man.
Silbersee, the new name for Vocaallab, is a music theater house and breeding ground for arts. In his performances, artistic director and theater maker Romain Bischoff builds bridges between diverse disciplines such as music, dance, opera and drama. In addition, he initiates creative collaborations between composers, choreographers, writers and other (young) makers, from the classical field to street culture. Silbersee plays a wide range of (international) venues, from Oerol to Holland Festival and from theaters to the Ruhrtriënnale. Examples of previous performances are DJ MOZ’ART (in co-production with cross-over dance company ISH), De Gehangenen (in co-production with LOD music theater) and Naked Lunch (a collaboration with Club Guy, Roni and Slagwerk Den Haag).
